The Student Loans Company has been compared to a small-to-medium-sized retail bank.  You’ll see on this site some figures which back that up – we provide funding of some £22 billion per year and manage a loan book of over £178 billion.  So excellent customer service is vital, as is the technology that enables accurate and secure financial transactions.

Like many banks we have legacy systems which were not designed for a digital age so we have implemented over the last three years a highly successful transformation programme which has put our customers first and has also exceeded the investment returns we were committed to make.  Our current Chief Executive, Paula Sussex has led this work and she will leave the Student Loans Company at the end of the year as a stronger, more resilient and more confident organisation.

But there is more to do to complete our transformation agenda and to prepare for the Government’s ambitious programme of further and higher education reform in England, including a new Lifelong Loan Entitlement from 2025.

So we are looking for the right leader to take us forward, complete our transformation programme and establish the Student Loans Company as a benchmark digital organisation in the public sector, with high-performing people and a talent pipeline at all levels of the organisation.
